How the majority of the human race are wrong

The following graph gives a full breakdown of the worlds religious beliefs. For the purpose of this article I will not refer to religions but rather belief systems as this also includes those who don't follow a religion.

World religion

From the graph there are two points that should be noted:

- The largest belief system is followed by 31% of the population.

- The majority of the belief systems preclude the existence of the others.

This shows that no matter which belief system is correct at least 69% of the population is wrong. But does this really matter? Are your religious beliefs not your own? The problem lies not in what people believe but by those individuals who promote or force their belief systems on others. This has been the problem in the past, it is the problem today and it will continue to be a problem in the future. The only way to resolve this is to fully understand what happens at the moment of death, thereby creating one unified belief system. However to understand death you must understand life.

Take a look at your body then take a look at the Sun. Which is more complex? The Sun is astronomically larger than an individual however it must follow a set of laws. These laws include classical physics, quantum mechanics and laws we may never learn or hope to understand. However the Sun follows these laws exactly. It is predictable and it is logical. Can the same laws also be applied to a human being? Of course they can. However the problem lies in defining what free will is. Free will can not easily be explained by any law. Some would argue that we are merely mirrors of our upbringing, reflections of our surroundings. If so we are no more than actors in a play reading a script that has already been written. If free will does truly exist, and I believe it does then we have yet to determine exactly what life and death is.

What we need to remember is that we are but one species on one planet in the middle of the universe just barely coming to grips with what the cosmos has to offer. If would be arrogance to think that any one person has a fundamental grasp on the cycle of life and death.
