Why I hate online gaming
Why do I hate online gaming? Isn't it just a group of people competing against each other across the internet in the spirit of good sportsmanship? Where the competition is challenging and the games enjoyable? If only this were even half true. Here are the top five reasons why I hate online gaming.

Does online gaming provoke this emotion in you?

Trash Talk
Trash talking is especially common in FPS games. No matter what your level of skill expect to be on the receiving end of some serious trash talking. If you are just starting out then the comments such as newbie or noob come into play. If you are winning then expect to be bombarded by accusations of cheating. The problem with most trash talkers though is their lack of imagination. It normally involves you, your sexuality, your mother or some combination of those three. Just for once I'd like to hear someone say "If you were twice as smart, you'd still be stupid".
Latency
Oh to have a low latency. For some players they seem to have a latency somewhere in the order of nanoseconds if that were possible. No sooner have you spotted them then they have punched you, garroted you, shot you five times and gone in search of a new victim. For us poor souls who have average latency the best we can hope for is a lucky shot.
Skill level
There are those whose play online games as a hobby and there are those who treat it like a second job. Day in and day out they play, memorizing weapon locations, spawn points and the map layout. Their skill has been finely honed over many many hours of gameplay. What this means is that the moment you enter the game you will have a life expectancy of about 7.3 seconds.
Cheaters
Cheaters cheaters cheaters. There are many ways to cheat, the most prominent though are small add-on programs or hacks that data mine your computers memory for that all important character information. Want to speed up your character? No problem. Want to shoot through walls? It can be done. They say that cheaters never prosper but in online games they will always have the final kill.
Disconnections
Imagine the following scenario. You are playing your favorite online strategy game. Your opponent has put up a valiant defense but now is the time for your victory. As you mass your units for one final push into enemy territory a message flashes up on the screen; "connection lost with 1337guy17". Staring blankly at your monitor all hope for victory is now gone, your opponent robbing you of the satisfaction of grinding his army into the ground. Deliberate disconnections are the refuge of the damned, the last defense of pride and the final kick in the gut from a player who knows he has already lost.
